Alberta Central is the central banking facility and trade association for Alberta’s credit unions. Reporting into Alberta Central’s Vice President Stakeholder Engagement, this position supports Alberta Central’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives, including the coordination of our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)/sustainability strategic planning and implementation of best practices. In alignment with our CSR strategy, the position will support the development of the organization’s social impact function, including formalizing our community investment and employee volunteering programs. The Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist also provides analytical, research and administrative support for the corporate strategic and operational planning cycles and assists in corporate scorecard development and reporting. Using project management principles and techniques, this position supports project planning and implementation across the organization, working collaboratively with key stakeholders and project owners. The Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist is responsible for the effective reporting of project deliverables and upward reporting to senior management. This position will also be working collaboratively with key Alberta Central teams as well as external stakeholders including credit unions and other partners.


  • Advance corporate social responsibility focus through coordination of a CSR strategy, including the development and implementation of CSR framework and goals across the organization.
  • Conduct benchmarking, follow trends and provide thought leadership on ESG/sustainability best practices, both internally and externally to our stakeholders.
  • Implement formalized social impact programs, including employee volunteering and community investment programs, and manage data and reporting activities associated with programming.
  • Support the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan and annual business plan through activities such as tracking, documenting and reporting (i.e. progress dashboards), working with leadership team and key internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and/or support corporate or ad-hoc projects and develop business cases.
  • Support risk management and effective governance by maintaining compliance with policies, procedures and controls both corporately and within area of responsibility, ensuring they are operating effectively and escalating discrepancies to management.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Related University degree and/or professional designation and 8 or more years of related experience; or combination of formal education and experience.
  • Previous financial services industry experience.
  • Knowledge of CSR and ESG best practices and reporting framework, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • Experience in management of social impact programs (community investment and employee volunteering) is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods.
  • Team-oriented, having experience collaborating with multiple levels and sectors of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be bondable.
