ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting into Alberta Central’s Vice President, Lending and Banking Services, this position’s primary responsibility is leading & managing the origination & administration of Central’s syndicated commercial lending portfolio. In addition, this position is responsible for supporting the Vice President, Lending & Banking Services, and the Vice President, Treasury in the identification, development, delivery & promotion of other wholesale financial services offered by Alberta Central.
The successful candidate will be an agile and collaborative team player with an ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead & manage the origination, authorization, disbursement, & administration of Central’s syndicated commercial lending portfolio.
- Drive growth by achieving targets for new loan origination, and loan portfolio growth & profitability.
- Lead credit risk management efforts, by ensuring proactive administration of the syndicated commercial lending portfolio, including annual reviews and special loans management, as well as ensuring compliance with credit risk policy, underwriting guidelines, and board approved risk appetite statements.
- Collaborate with the Vice President, Lending & Banking Services, in the delivery and development of wholesale banking reporting, Bank of Canada standing term liquidity facility, and the letter of credit programs.
- Collaborate with the Vice President, Lending & Banking Services in the delivery of the residential mortgage lending, residential mortgage purchase programs, credit union and affiliate lending programs.
- Lead the delivery and development of programs designed to enhance the effectiveness of lending and deposit taking activities undertaken directly by credit unions, including banking operations forms and manuals.
- Engage & support Alberta’s credit unions through leadership and/or active participation in, various credit union system networks and associations.
- Lead or participate in new product & service development, including identification, inception, testing, implementation & execution.
- Build effective relationships & partnerships with Alberta Credit Unions, clients, and other stakeholders through the effective delivery and promotion of Alberta Central’s lending, banking, treasury and capital market products & services.
- Demonstrate role model behavior by encouraging the desired corporate culture and helping to create a high performance and engaged employee group.
- Providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the lending & banking team.
- Ability to lead & manage direct reports based on the growth & evolving needs of this business unit.
- Ensure direct reports have a clear understanding of risk management which is filtered down to all employees within their span of control.

REQUIREMENTS
- University degree completed in Business Administration or Commerce.
- A professional designation such as CFA, CPA, or MBA – Preferred.
- 15 years of diversified commercial experience, corporate real estate experience, and leading and/or participation in syndicate transactions.
- Knowledge and experience in the Canadian credit union system is an asset.
- Team-oriented, having experience collaborating with multiple levels and sectors of the organization.
- Ability to prioritize effort and manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Office.
- Must be bondable.
