Role Summary

Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, the People and Culture Advisor is a skilled HR generalist responsible for advising on all aspects of the employment relationship for both employees and managers. Along with the ability to build strong relationships, the successful incumbent will bring a background in talent acquisition, employee relations, and disability management.

We are looking for someone with outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, who can professionally manage confidential material. Having innovative problem-solving skills, decision-making abilities, and the ability to prioritize competing demands is critical for success in this role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide consultative support and “hands on” service to our clients covering all HR related areas such as policy interpretation and best practices, talent acquisition, employee relations issues (including discipline and termination), coaching on performance management, disability management and other work related issues.
  • Deliver sound recruitment and selection practices that drive top talent into the organization, including full-cycle recruitment for a variety of professional and technical positions.
  • Implement an inclusive attraction, recruitment & selection process to recruit diverse candidates.
  • Support new hire onboarding and offboarding to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Identify ongoing needs that require research, analysis and resolution, in order to meet the changing requirements of the organization. Partner with senior management to address these needs.
  • Support and guide clients with the implementation of employee engagement strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve the department’s and organizational strategic objectives.
  • Support risk management and effective governance by maintaining compliance with policies, procedures and controls both corporately and within area of responsibility, ensuring they are operating effectively and escalating discrepancies to management.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Related University, college, formal certification and a minimum of 5 years related experience; or a combination of formal education and experience.
  • Knowledge of HR trends, common law and employment standards legislation.
  • Working towards professional designation (CPHR)
  • Previous financial services industry experience is an asset.
  • Understanding of payroll processes is an asset.
  • Experience with HRIS systems is required and experience with ADP systems is an asset.
  • Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced collaborative and team-oriented work environment.
  • Must be bondable.
