People & Culture Specialist

1 Full-Time Position


Alberta Central is the central banking facility and trade association for Alberta’s credit unions. We are owned by 12 credit unions that together have more than $33 billion in system assets and serve more than 640,000 members at 198 branches across Alberta. Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, this position provides specialist support for the People & Culture Department contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of various P&C functions within the employee life cycle. These include administration of the employment management process within the Human Resources Information System, onboarding/offboarding processes, developing employment documentation, orientation, talent acquisition support, employee records administration and project support. This position requires a basic understanding of business disciplines, the application of well-defined techniques and procedures, and familiarity of two or more human resources areas.


  • Provide specialized support related to the people and culture functional area.
  • Administer the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) system.
  • Assist with the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing employment documentation, conducting orientations, and technology set up.
  • Support the talent acquisition process including job postings and pre-selection activities.
  • Support the off-boarding process including the return of company assets.
  • Respond to employees regarding general HR inquiries, policies and programs.
  • Coordinate meetings and prepare documents and presentations as required.
  • Assist in the coordination of programs and training.
  • Maintain files and records of a confidential nature and prepare standardized reports.
  • May lead or participate in special projects as required.
  • Provide back-up to payroll basic functions as required.
  • Support risk management by following established policies, procedures, and controls, both corporately and within area of responsibility and escalate discrepancies to management.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Grade 12 and some post – secondary in a related field with a minimum of 2 years experience.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced collaborative and team-oriented work environment.
  • Previous financial services industry experience is an asset.
  • Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
