The Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation (CUDGC) is now hiring a Credit Analyst based in Edmonton, AB for a hybrid eligible role.

The Credit Union Deposit Guarantee Corporation is a not-for-profit public agency of the Government of Alberta that guarantees deposits and provides risk-based regulatory oversight to enable a safe and sound credit union system in Alberta. Our primary roles include:

  • Providing a 100% guarantee of deposits held with Alberta credit unions
  • Regulating credit unions and enforcing the Credit Union Act
  • Revising, advising and directing credit unions on sound business practices
  • Monitoring credit union performance and implementing appropriate actions to improve performance and reduce risks
  • Establishing individual credit union loan approval limits and providing an appropriate adjudication process for loans that exceed these limits

This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Regulation and Credit Risk Assessment and is primarily responsible for providing support to the Regulation & Credit Risk Assessment (RCRA) business unit. Responsibilities include administration, loan transaction reviews, and adjudicating retail credit applications. The Credit Analyst performs tasks such as data entry, consolidating and uploading electronic documents, and reporting to assist the Managers, Regulation & Credit Risk Assessment (MRCRAs) as well as adjudicating retail loans up to their assigned limit.

THE POSITION

  • Assist the RCRA business unit by entering credit applications, Amendments, Loan Transaction Reviews (LTRs), and various correspondence into the Credit Department Monitoring System (CDMS).
  • Input credit information to create the Input Sheets that correspond with each credit application and then update CDMS (i.e. Input Sheet, Member Information, and Diary) once the credit application has been finalized.
  • Evaluate and process retail credit Loan Transaction Reviews (LTRs) consistent with the Lending Guidelines.
  • Adjudicate retail credit applications within policy guidelines:
    • Explore reasonable alternatives for retail credit applications where deemed appropriate.
    • Escalate complex/unusual situations, declines, or policy exceptions as required.
  • Organize and upload credit related electronic files received from credit unions into the appropriate SharePoint (integra) libraries.
  • Receive and upload resource documents (e.g. Business Prospects document).
  • Communicate with assigned credit unions to discuss credit observations and/or Lending Guidelines.
  • Assist MRCRAs with conducting risk assessments on credit unions’ overall credit risk management program.

THE PERSON

  • 3+ years of recent credit administrative experience and/or retail credit lending experience in a financial institution.
  • Diploma/certification in a financial sector related area of study and/or equivalent experience.
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of applicable financial sector legislation is an asset.
  • Understanding of/experience with the credit union system is an asset.
  • Experience in the interpretation and administration of credit policy and guidelines.
  • Strong communication (e.g. verbal, active listening, written), presentation, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail with well-developed time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and use discretion in dealing with confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Strong technology skills utilizing MS Office Suite, MS Teams, SharePoint, and other technology enabling high quality hybrid meetings and remote work.
