Prairie Credit Unions

The Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) recently completed successful testing of a cloud-based architecture that simplifies the integration between digital channels, the Payments as a Service (PaaS) platform and core banking systems.

This test was the first of its kind on the PaaS platform which allows any credit union to integrate with the platform, regardless of their digital banking or banking solution.

“For credit unions, it shows that we can deliver integration functionality as an extension of the ‘as-a-service’ model we are delivering through PaaS for credit unions,” says PPJV CEO Michael Devlin. “It really is exciting.”

PPJV is a joint venture between the Credit Union Centrals of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba that collectively represents more than 75 credit unions across the three prairie provinces. In May 2020, PPJV signed an eight-year, multi-million dollar agreement with IBM to digitally transform and modernize credit union payment services in Canada. This marks the largest agreement of its kind in Canada for the credit union system.
