Accounting Assistant
13 Month Full Time Co-op Position Starting August 2025
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this position is responsible for providing support to the accounting department. This role typically performs entry level accounting functions, assists with maintaining the general ledger, month-end preparation, assistance in preparing financial statements and reconciliations, variance analysis and budget work for Alberta Central and two joint venture organizations. This position works under the supervision of CPA designated accountants.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assist in the preparation and production of month end financial reports and analysis.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Assist with external and internal audits.
- Assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements.
- Participate in special projects as required.
How You’ll Succeed
- Minimum 2 years university completed in Business Administration or Commerce specializing in Accounting.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to set priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong analytical skills with proven quantitative problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Possess good communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency Level of Microsoft Office Suite: Word – intermediate, Excel – intermediate, PowerPoint – intermediate and Outlook – intermediate.
- Must be bondable.
