Economic Research Assistant
1 Temporary Position – 4 Month Contract
The Opportunity
Working under the direction of the Chief Economist, this position is responsible for assisting the Economic Research team with sourcing, collecting and compiling economic data, including data comments, news monitoring, and forecasting.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct economic research on regional and national economies, industry sectors, labour and housing markets, and government fiscal policies.
- Compile and consolidate economic data for further analysis to support reports on current economic conditions and trends.
- Assist with the preparation of detailed economic commentary and presentations for the organization and Alberta Credit Union system.
- Triage and respond accordingly to requests for economic inquiries and information from Alberta Central stakeholders.
- Support risk management by following established policies, procedures and controls both corporately and within area of responsibility and escalates discrepancies to management.
How You’ll Succeed
- Working towards (final year), or recent completion of, undergraduate degree in Economics. Enrolment in Master’s program considered an asset.
- Strong technical data skills required (MS Excel, Eviews, Python, R)
- Solid knowledge of time series analysis
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Big data skills an asset
- Must be bondable.
