Senior Social Impact & Communications Advisor
1 FULL-TIME PERMANENT POSITION
The Opportunity
This position plays a key role in implementing Alberta Central’s social impact objectives in collaboration with the credit union system across Alberta. The Senior Social Impact & Communications Advisor will think and implement strategically to manage Alberta Central’s corporate donations (including grants and scholarships programs), build key community partnerships, lead employee and credit union collaboration volunteer initiatives, and provide corporate social responsibility (CSR)/social impact thought leadership to Alberta’s credit unions.
Using strategic thinking and creative planning, the position will implement communications activities and marketing campaigns, leveraging social impact initiatives to drive awareness of the credit union system through our Credit Unions of Alberta brand. The position is responsible for program management activities such as data tracking and reporting. The Senior Social Impact & Communications Advisor also plays a significant stakeholder engagement role, working with various individuals and groups on a daily basis, such as employees, credit union representatives, not-for-profit organizations, community members and more. The role will also support our Communications and Engagement Team through the development and implementation of various corporate communications and engagement projects and initiatives.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Advance corporate social responsibility focus and outcomes through implementation of a strategic social impact strategy, including management of corporate donations, volunteerism and collaborative social impact across the credit union system.
- Drive awareness of the credit union system’s social impact focus through communications and marketing initiatives.
- Follow trends and best practices and provide CSR/social impact thought leadership and resources to the Communications, Marketing and Social Impact Network, as well as providing Alberta Central internal expertise in this area.
- Manage program data, tracking and reporting activities associated with social impact program, and share information through various reporting mechanisms, such as dashboards and spreadsheets.
- Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including credit unions and community partners.
- Support the development and implementation of communications materials in alignment with social impact and other corporate initiatives.
- Support risk management by following established policies, procedures, and controls, both corporately and within area of responsibility and escalate discrepancies to management.
- Provide mentorship and back-up support to administration team members during absences.
How You’ll Succeed
Must Have
- Related University degree and 8 or more years of related experience; or combination of formal education and experience.
- Experience in management of corporate social impact programs (community investment, employee engagement and corporate volunteering).
- Knowledge of CSR/ social impact best practices is essential.
- Strong writing, presentation and communications skills.
- Use creativity in the development of communications and marketing campaigns.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills.
- Proficiency in Excel for program data management.
- Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Strategic social media skills to leverage campaign activities utilizing digital platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and to influence others across a multitude of business units.
- Strong attention to detail, customer orientation, communication, and presentation skills including the ability to listen and quickly translate business needs into solutions and build effective working relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Self-motivated and productive team player with ability to influence without authority and thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced collaborative and team-oriented work environment.
- Must be bondable
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) best practices is beneficial.
- Work and think strategically with the ability to take projects and initiatives from idea to execution.
- Previous financial services industry experience is an asset.
