The shortlisted applications received will be giving a virtual “pitch presentation” to a panel of judges that includes leaders from across the Alberta credit union system and a previous winner on December 7th, with the final two recipients to be announced on December 11th. The two recipients will then be awarded a $25,000 grant to be deposited into a business account with their local credit union.

As a reminder, this grant, which launched in 2020, provides an opportunity for two Alberta-based small business owners to receive $25,000 in funding to help grow their business and foster innovation. It showcases how credit unions support innovative Alberta-based small businesses by providing them with the chance at one of two $25,000 grants.

As part of this initiative, $140,000 worth of grants have been given away to six different Alberta-based small businesses that demonstrated new and innovative ideas. This grant is all about celebrating the innovative spirit of Albertans and giving business owners the extra support they need to take their business to the next level, in the same way that credit unions go above and beyond for small business owners with products, services and advice.
