In a recent interview with BNN Bloomberg, Chief Economist Charles St-Arnaud spoke to the decision by the Bank of Canada to hold the key policy rate for now.

Charles shared that although this decision was in-line with his expectations, the risks of another hike remain if the BoC doesn’t see inflation moderate further.

What I thought was interesting is that they’re probably listing a bit more upside risk in their scenario. This could be a difficult environment for them to navigate, with growth and inflation stronger than expected creating upside risk on commodity prices, and elevated wage growth.”
