In recent interviews, Alberta Central Chief Economist Charles St-Arnaud spoke about inflation. He told Yahoo Finance that there is a direct connection between rising inflation and the rising price of oil.

Energy is central to a modern economy. We don’t necessarily realize it until we have a big shock,” said Charles St-Arnaud, chief economist for Alberta Central, the central banking facility for Alberta’s credit unions. “And what I think has happened over the last two years, and what I think has gotten lost in some of the conversation, is that we’ve had a shock that’s been so big that it’s non-linear.”

He was also quoted on various print, online and radio news sources speaking about inflation, including 620ck.com, the Lacombe Express and the Stettler Independent. In addition, he was featured in online coverage looking at the latest inflation numbers and what they mean for the Bank of Canada.
