About the speakers

Lena BouSaleh
At the junction of passion and experience, Lena arrived as the Diversity and Inclusion Specialist at Servus Credit Union. Combining a Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology with over 10 years of leadership experience in the financial services industry, she believes that strategic focus on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in the workplace will drive the change we want to see in our communities. Lena leverages her energetic presence and a touch of humour to engage in dialogue and action toward meaningful change. Living on the hyphen – as she describes it – of being Lebanese-Syrian-Canadian, she continues her DEIB work past the 5 o’clock hour, acknowledging her own privilege, offering education and finding ways to tackle barriers for others within her community. Known to choose a book over a party, her current “to be read” stack won’t stop her from buying another to add to the pile.

Marcie Hawranik
Marcie is the Founder of Canadian Equality Consulting; a company that supports workplaces advance diversity, equity and inclusion. She has a M.A. in conflict resolution from Syracuse University, a BA in political studies, and extensive experience in gender analysis, gender mainstreaming, diversity and inclusion, policy and program development, and stakeholder engagement. Marcie co-hosts a podcast called “(ex)clusion,” an exploration of equity, diversity and inclusion best practices.
