Following the release of a report on the latest insolvency data, Alberta Central Chief Economist was quoted speaking on what it could mean about the state of household finances in Canada.

In an article from the St. John’s Telegram, he was quoted on the recent increases and he was featured in a Financial Post article on the debt struggle of many Canadians.

“The increase in 2023 has been more significant than usual in almost every province,” he said. “This situation could be a correction after a small decline in April. However, so far this year, the monthly increases have been notably bigger than historically and suggest a fast-rising trend in insolvencies.”
